ask nura
an AI companion that's smart — and knows it isn't your doctor.
ask nura answers the questions you'd never type into a group chat: warm, factual, judgment-free. Here's exactly how it works, and exactly what it does — and doesn't — do with your data.
On-device by default
On supported iPhones (iOS 26+ with Apple Intelligence), ask nura runs on Apple's on-device Foundation Model. Your question and your cycle context are processed entirely on your phone — nothing is sent to us or anyone else to produce the answer. Free, private, and works offline.
Cloud answers (only when needed)
When on-device AI isn't available on your phone, ask nura can answer via our secure cloud service. This happens over an encrypted connection, only for the question you ask, and only with your consent. You can turn cloud personalization off entirely in Settings.
data handling
what's used, and what's never used.
What may be processed (to answer you)
- The text of your question
- Recent messages in that chat, for continuity
- If you consent: minimal cycle context — current cycle day & phase, average cycle length, recent symptoms — so answers are personal
What is never done
- We never use your conversations or cycle data to train AI models
- We never sell your data or share it with advertisers or data brokers
- We never attach your identity to AI requests beyond what's needed to serve them
- We never let nura diagnose you or hand out medication dosing
guardrails
the rules nura never breaks.
🩺 Never diagnoses
nura explains what conditions clinicians might consider and frames things as "worth mentioning to a doctor" — never "you have X."
🚨 Escalates real risk
Soaking through protection hourly, sudden severe pain, fainting, fever with pain — nura tells you plainly to seek urgent care now.
🤍 Crisis-aware
Mentions of self-harm or abuse are met with empathy first, then real resources (e.g. 988 in the US) — immediately, never a lecture.
💊 No dosing advice
No medication dosing beyond label-level information, and no interpreting lab or test results.
📋 Honest about evidence
Solid evidence, emerging research, and popular-but-unproven "vibes" are clearly distinguished.
⚖️ Always discloses limits
"I'm smart, but I'm not your doctor." A standing disclaimer, in nura's own voice.
transparency you can read in full.
